How the EU ensures the safety, quality and sustainability of its food and beverage exports to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries

13-14 December 2022 | Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Join H.E. Andrea Matteo Fontana, EU Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and Ms Nicole Maftoum, our Master of Ceremony, alongside EU and GCC government representatives, and sector-specific food specialists for presentations and Q&A discussion sessions. 

The first day will feature presentations from EU representatives on the sustainability and safety of EU agri-food production, including the EU Green Deal, Farm to Fork Strategy and introductions to EU policies on food safety, animal and plant health and food traceability. Each presentation will be followed by Q&A discussion sessions to give audience members the chance to raise their questions to the speakers.

Participants who wish to further explore the benefits of the EU food and beverage are welcome as of 16:00 until 22:00 at the EU Caravan located at Jumeirah Beach (JBR). Throughout the evening you can take your taste buds on a trip with a sampling menu of seasonal and authentic EU products. Please note that arrangements to/ from the hotel are at your own discretion.

Day two will host sessions on the trade opportunities arising from organic farming and the EU’s management systems for pesticides, residues and chemicals. Breakout product-oriented sessions with specialist speakers will be focused the following categories: 

  • Milk and dairy products
  • Fruits and Vegetables, Olive oil and vegetable fats

  • Live animals (including genetic material), meat and meat products

  • Processed agricultural products

Taking a deeper dive into the related challenges and opportunities, the event will wrap up with a roundtable debate on how to boost EU-GCC trade in agri-food products, followed by a closing reception hosted by H.E. Andrea Matteo Fontana, EU Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.  

Renowned French Chef Junior Nadje will bring the discussion to life with live cooking shows featuring agri-food products from across EU’s 27 Member States, giving participants an unmissable chance to sample and experience them for themselves. 

Open to importers, exporters, GCC Ministries, Chambers of Commerce, consumers and related media, all sessions will be conducted in English with a buffet lunch provided on both days.

Please note that the event is free of charge but can only host a limited number of participants so registrations will go through an approval process.
